Every day, the San Diego Diplomacy Council is dealing with social, political, economic and environmental global issues by bringing people from different countries and from different specialties together and enabling them to build new business relationships and make friendships throughout the world. Human Trafficking, Gender-based Violence, Counterterrorism and Human Rights – These are only some of many issues our professional meetings can focus on.
After participating in our program, our visitors shape the political, economic and social future of their home countries. Many hundreds of IVLP-alumni have risen to important positions in their countries, including Nicolas Sarkozy, the current president of France, Tony Blair, former prime minister of Britain, and Oscar Arias Sanchez, former president of Costa Rica.
In addition to that, the San Diego Diplomacy Council also links our international guests with local citizens. We impact the San Diegan community giving them the opportunity to learn first-hand about foreign cultures, conditions and global trends and engage them in meaningful, mutually beneficial dialogues. At the same time, the international visitor develops and understanding of life and values in the United States.
